Universal Robina Corp., the food manufacturing company of JG Summit Holdings Inc., has acquired General Milling Corp.'s snack manufacturing assets. Universal Robina said it had entered into a memorandum of agreement with General Milling for the purchase of the latter's snack manufacturing assets and trademark. General Milling is the second-largest corn chips manufacturer in the Philippines. It produces and sells corn- and wheat-based snacks, such as Kornets, Tortillos and Brew Bud under the 'Granny Goose' brand. Universal Robina, on the other hand, is the largest savory snacks maker in the Philippines, producing Chippy, Piattos, and Nova, among others. It manufactures savory snacks, biscuits, cakes, candies and chocolates under the 'Jack ‘n Jill' brand.
