Kepco's Cebu coal power plant gets incentives

The Board of Investments has approved the granting of incentives to Kepco SPC Power Corp.'s P19.945-billion, 200-megawatt coal-fired power plant in Naga, Cebu. The project, which is covered by the 2007 Investment Priorities Plan, is entitled to perks under the pioneer status, including an income tax holiday for six years. Kepco is a 60-40 joint venture between Korean-owned Kepco Philippines Corp. and Singaporean-owned Salcon Power Corp. The coal-fired power project is included in a bilateral agreement entered into by the government of the Philippines and the Republic of Korea when President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo visited Korea in June of 2003.
