The country's industrial output grew by half a percent in January to reverse a nearly one-year consecutive monthly contraction, the National Statistics Office (NSO) said. An NSO survey of selected industries showed that the counry's volume of production index (VoPI) grew by 0.5 percent over a year in January mainly due to higher factory output in 12 major sectors. The VoPI, however, fell by 11.1 percent over a month due to decreases in food manufacturing, beverages and petroleum products.
